Knock on Wood: Project Painting: Phase 2, Priming The Bathroom

Finally got back in the mood to paint. So I decided to tackle the bathroom next. Our bathroom was a bright almost royal blue, not a bad color. But again, like the kitchen, too dark for the space. Since I'm painting it a lighter color, I had to prime it first. And let me just say, maneuvering a ladder in a tiny bathroom is like trying to have sex in an airplane bathroom, not an easy feat.
I had a little of the white primer left from the phase 1 in the kitchen so I used it to cut in the bathroom and patch up some spots on the trim and ceiling from the previous paint jobs. But our second can of primer (we got a really good deal on primer, but they were two different colors) is tan, so it's gonna look a little funny until we paint the final color.

PRO TIP:Just like in the kitchen, wiping down the walls and trim with a damp cloth, paying close attention around sinks and toilets, before painting helps the paint go on smoothly.

Just as I was finishing cutting in, Philip came home early and scared the crap out of me while I was up on the ladder. I nearly fell, but lets not tell him that. I took a short break while he fixed a couple of things around the house. Then I asked him to roll the top portion of the walls, cause he's better at it than I am. He ended up rolling the entire room! I helped at the end, going back over spots where the blue was coming through too much.

The small space feels more open, clean, and airy now, even without any natural light or help from the Crazy Cat Crew (aka the CCC). And the new color will tie in well with the planned color for the kitchen and the acceptable colors already in the house, as well as the towels, shower curtain, and rugs we already have.
