Georgia On My Mind

If you haven't guessed yet, or read this post, I'm originally from Georgia. I miss it all the time and have hopes to move back one day. Don't get me wrong, I have a great life here in Missouri with my Love and our fur babies, but Georgia is where my family is, it's where most of my friends live, it's where my heart yearns to be on a regular basis. The first month here was fine, I had a new house to decorate, a new town to explore, and I was finally in the same space as Philip daily instead of a long weekend every few months. After I settled in, it really began to hit me how much I left behind. I took a lot of things for granted and now wish I had made an effort to spend more time with my siblings, my grandparents, and my friends.

I miss my Mommy the most, and Philip knows how hard it's been for me without her, so he encouraged my decision to take my mom up on her offer to pay my way. So, this time tomorrow (Thursday) I will be on my way down to Georgia to spend Mother's Day with her.

Including stops and traffic, it takes about 14 hours to get from my house to Mom's house. I'll be making this trip sans Philip for the first time since I drove my butt here to move in with him. While neither of us are thrilled about it, it's also the first time we'll be away from each other since I moved here.

As you can see from the text conversation, Philip and I have already planned a trip for early September to drive down and get the rest of my things out of storage. I'm super excited for that trip as it will be Philip's, Brian's (my Mom's hubby), and my gay boyfriend's boyfriend's (say that three times fast!) birthday weekend! Also, because I will have my furniture for the guest room and all of my knick-knacks, kitchen things, and random sentimental items I had packed away like a time capsule.

Last time I was in Georgia, my Mom and her husband were just about to move into their new house. She's done so much since then and I can't wait to see it! Remember that box she was going to send me? No? Read this post. I'll wait... Ok. Well she still hasn't sent it, BUT I get to bring it home with me next week! She really does buy the best surprises.

I said all of that to say that I may not be as active on Twitter or Instagram while I'm down there. So, if you don't see me as much or I take forever to respond to your tweets, it's cause I'm spending quality time with my Mommy or having lunch with Melissa or surprise visiting the aforementioned gay boyfriend and his boyfriend.

I will be sure to document my trip as best I can for a re-cap next week. I'll leave you with Ray Charles to serenade your about my beloved Georgia.
