TBT Stories: My First Kiss

Throwback Thursday Stories

It's Thursday, and you know what that means. Another blast from my past! This week we're discussing your First Kiss. I have touched on this before (here), but I will elaborate on that story for you.

From left to right: 2004 my senior year, 2007 a summer visit, 2008 a fall visit

I didn't have my first real kiss until my freshman year of high school, I was 13 and the youngest in my class. I was also the new girl at my school since I had just moved down to Statesboro, GA to live with my dad. I joined marching band that year, so I had to stay after school a few days a week for practice. I made a few friends and soon caught the eye of a boy. His name is Chris, and he gave me a rose and asked me to be his girlfriend. I was smitten. My dad did not approve, but then he never really approved of us dating at all. Practice ended early one night, so Chris and I took a walk around the school buildings. The grounds were deserted. The daylight was slowly fading and when we got to a more secluded spot, he turned toward me, said something sweet (I can't remember exactly what now) and then kissed me. The kiss was gentle and slow, and tasted so sweet. I was hooked!

We broke up 3 months later, but became best friends, and still are to this day. He now lives in Florida and teaches middle school band. I'm so proud of him and what he's accomplished. And even though we don't get to see each other or talk very often, I still feel that close connection we always shared growing up.

Next week on TBT: What did you want to be when you grew up? Is that what you do now?

    1. It's weird to think about the fact that we dated now, because I think of him as an older brother.
